Cancelled Masses for Ash Wednesday 05/03/25 – Saturday 08/03/25 Mar 5, 2025

Dear Parishioners at St Benedict’s.

With the threat of extreme weather conditions, the Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Brisbane, Father Peter Dillon, had directed all parishes to prioritise the safety of their parishioners. Father Peter writes, “ The personal safety of our parishioners, staff and volunteers is our highest priority.  With the expectation of heavy rain and strong winds from Wednesday, any Mass times or scheduled events are to be cancelled from late afternoon on Ash Wednesday.  Parish offices and churches are to be closed from late Wednesday afternoon.

In adhering to this directive from the Archdiocese of Brisbane, we will be cancelling the following at St Benedict’s Parish:

  • 05/03/25, Ash Wednesday 7pm Mass (Cancelled).
  • 07/03/25, Friday 9am Parish Mass (Cancelled).
  • 07/03/25, Friday 6pm Stations of the Cross (Cancelled).
  • 08/03/25, Saturday 4pm Mass (Cancelled).
  •  The Parish Retreat scheduled for Saturday March 8 is postponed, with a tentative rescheduling for Saturday March 15.

May we please ask you to spread the word to any of our Mass goers that do not receive our emails. Any further information and updates will be posted to the Parish Website (https://stbenedictscatholicparish.com.au/) and Facebook pages, along with our Parish Newsletter tomorrow.

I apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause; however, as Father Peter says, parishioners, volunteers and staff personal safety is our highest priority.

Please be careful over the next four days and keep safe.

Your brother in Christ

Fr Bryan
